Matty Healy Sends Conflicting Political Signals as The 1975 Launch Glastonbury Headline Performance

“I know I’m supposed to be a rockstar, but this is really scary and I’m really nervous,” confessed Matty Healy to the crowd of over 100,000 on Friday night.

The 1975 frontman brought his trademark charisma to the Pyramid Stage as the band launched the first headline set of this year’s Glastonbury Festival.

With heartfelt moments and playful self-deprecation, Healy addressed the audience between crowd-pleasing performances of fan favorites like “Chocolate,” “About You,” and “Somebody Else.”

Cradling a pint in one hand, he kicked off the hour-and-a-half set with his usual blend of charm and irony. “It’s hard to know when I’m being sincere on stage,” he quipped. “But what this moment is making me realize is… yeah, I probably am the best. Probably the best songwriter of my generation,” he joked, grinning.
